Recruiting
In its hiring decisions, DP&F has always stressed legal skill, integrity, loyalty to clients, an unselfish attitude and community involvement and service. It goes without saying that top quality law, practiced with integrity, is the best road to success. DP&F strives to meet this standard to the best of its ability. The result is a firm whose lawyers have a wide divergence of interests, respect for each other, and a desire to practice the highest standard of law of which they are capable. The firm offers several advantages. Although we enjoy the pleasures of practicing in an agricultural area of unusual beauty, the firm has been fortunate to develop a growing civil practice that has the complexity and challenge one might expect from a larger firm practicing in a major city. In addition we maintain a flexibility toward our members’ individual goals that is quite unusual. Legal competence (aptitude and diligence) is our most important hiring criterion. Grades are the easiest determinant of that but we would consider any other available indicator. The applicant’s personal qualities are also very important. We seek applicants who value personal relationships among the lawyers in the firm and whose primary professional objective is service to clients.
